People change.
Over your lifetime, how many times have you changed? Did you notice that you were changing or did you realize it after it happened? Did you decide one day you wanted to change than made a plan to do so & succeeded or not? There are so many factors that go into this, yet the facts are not out there. We could look within us & know or have a pretty good idea of the facts. My facts won’t be the same as your facts or anyone else’s, that is what makes people so awesome, no one is the same!
There is a study/survey done by the National Association of Realtors in the 2019 Profile of Homebuyers & Sellers. In it, buyers said they expected to live in their homes for 15 years.
There is a study/survey done by the Bureau of Labor in the 2019 Bureau of Labor Statistics. The baby boomers were asked how many times in their lifetime did they change jobs, the average was 12 jobs. That’s 5 or less years in the same job.
With those two considerations, you will change jobs 2-3 times while living in the same home for 15 years.
The real question: Is it the job or the home that needs to be changed?
I strongly believe that home is where the foundation of happiness starts. We change our jobs for many reasons, but a main reason is because we are not happy there. If we build on our foundation within our comfort zone (home) to figure out what job would make us happiest, then our life is happy & no need for a change! (Yes, people do just get bored, but that’s a different article) If we are changing our jobs often because of not being happy then maybe, we need to rethink on what it is that needs to change.
Could it be your house? Where the foundation of happiness starts.
Have you out-grown your house?
Kids leaving the nest & it’s to big? Kids entering the nest & it’s not big enough?
Are you leaving the nest more than usual? Saying, ‘I just don’t want to be here’ or ‘I don’t feel like going home yet.’
Does the house not appeal to you any longer? The same-bord-with-decor, you don’t feel like changing. Those shutters you said you’d take down, that you didn’t like from the beginning, but still haven’t done so.
Are your DIY projects, you were so excited to do, not getting done? You might not be as excited to live there as much as you think anymore.
Have you been telling yourself that you need a change, but don’t know where to start? Shouldn’t you start with the foundation & build on that.
Are you comfortably ‘you’ in your house? If it’s a change we seek, putting ourselves outside of our comfort zone is what the specialists say to do in order to successfully change.
There are more questions you could ask yourself…take a moment & think, it’s okay I’ll wait!
Check out my blog post titled, Think About This on Valentine’s Day, it will give you more insight to what I’m getting at here! Then send me a text, a message, an email or give me a call, whichever works best for you, I’ll help you figure it out from there!
Even if you know selling right now isn’t in the cards, I am still willing to help! Maybe with getting you to fall in love with home again or helping you for a year or two on what to do & what not to do if you plan to sell in the future. Some improvements won’t have a return on the investment, some will, ask me first. I can also come and take pictures of your house in all the seasons for when you do list it, buyers online can see what it looks like all year long & most of the listings your house will be competing with, won’t have this! Have a question about real estate, ask me, I love my job & I love to talk about it! Realtor for life! Remember above when I said, ‘that is what makes people so awesome, no one is the same,’ my every transaction & my every client is not the same, therefore I won’t ‘get bored’ either, so no need to ‘change’ my job!
As a real estate agent, I understand my job isn’t to only sell your house or find you a home, but also to council you in house matters and walk you through the process & if that process takes years than I’m happy to be Your Realtor for years!
